The newest City in Kenya bags yet another milestone towards leveraging its City status.

As part of the annual tradition, Nakuru County Tourism Association and the County government have planned a bespoke festival for #WTD2022 that seeks to celebrate the culinary cultural heritage in the cosmopolitan City. The event’s key focus is Gastronomy and will be showcasing diverse cuisines from over thirty (30) communities ranging from local, African and continental dishes.

“We are excited and proud to announce that our first main event as a City has been welcomed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), who have recognized Nakuru’s Gastronomy Festival as this years’ official National event to commemorate the 42nd United Nations World Tourism Day.”

David Mwangi, Chairman Nakuru County Tourism Association (NCTA)

The event which started as a County edition, has now gained National recognition. Guests of honor will be the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife – Hon. Najib Balala and the Governor, County Government of Nakuru – Her Excellency Hon. Susan Kihika. Other hospitality top leaders to be hosted include; CEO Kenya Tourism Board – Dr. Betty Radier, CEO Tourism Fund – Mr. David Mwangi, CEO Tourism Research Institute – Mr. David Gitonga and Kenya Wildlife Service Director General Brigadier (retired) John Migui Waweru.

The festival will also be graced by senior officials and representatives from Tourism Regulatory Authority, National Museums of Kenya, County Government of Nakuru, Nakuru Business Community as well as Tourism and hospitality Stakeholders. The event is coming at a time when Nakuru City is positioning itself a ripe MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) destination in the region.

Nakuru County Tourism Association (NCTA) chairman Mr. David Mwangi affirmed the good news at NCTA’s Committee meeting assuring that the event will be nothing short of bliss!

Festival will feature a series of unique stands that are diverse to each culture;
