A Glorious Return After the Pandemic
The Nakuru ASK Trade Fair, which was held from 12th -17th July 2023, marks a significant milestone as it is the second event since the Covid-19 pandemic forced its suspension for two years.
As the doors swung open, Mr. David Mwangi, the Nakuru Tourism Association Chairman, took the honor of ushering in the guests, serving as the entrusted representative of the ASK’s marketing committee. With pride, he wore the hat of the Marketing Subcommittee Chairman at ASK Nakuru Branch.
Collaboration between the County Government and Farmers
With great enthusiasm, Agriculture Chief Officer Hon. Kibet Kurgat passionately reaffirmed the County Government’s unwavering commitment to bolstering farmers’ endeavors. Embracing the challenge of 30% post-harvest losses amid food shortages, they eagerly pledged to collaborate closely with farmers, seeking innovative and effective solutions together during the uplifting training sessions’ opening.
Agriculture, contributing 33% to our GDP, plays a vital role in our economy, employing over 40% of rural populations and generating 70% of job opportunities. Nakuru, a prominent agricultural county, centered its theme on “promoting climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth.” H.E. Visitor-Friendly Experience on a Budget
The overall experience was enhanced, and easy access to the fair was facilitated through the introduction of digital payment platforms. Visitors were able to conveniently pay for admission in advance, ensuring a seamless entry process. The entry fees remained unchanged, with adults paying Sh250, children Sh200, and secondary school students Sh150. This endeavor aimed to make the fair accessible to all, regardless of age or background.
